Hotel pool stay or water park day trip in Japan?

Should the water part of our trip be a hotel stay or a day trip? Resort hotels put the pool inside the stay but can limit non-guest use; day-use water parks are easier to slot in from a city base but cost you a travel day. Which is better depends on your base and how much of the trip should be slow.

For: Families deciding how to fit water play into a multi-city Japan trip

Decide with these criteria

What to weigh

  • Is the pool the point of a slower segment, or one day inside a city stay?
  • Does the facility limit use to hotel guests at certain times?
  • How long is the trip from your base?
